ALLOW GOD TO USE HIS TOOLS TO SHAPE YOUR LIFE

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of you mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”—Romans 12:2

God’s kindness to us is demonstrated by the fact that He doe not leave us in the condition we were in before coming to faith.  How tragic it would be if we still thought, felt, and acted the same way we did before receiving Christ as our Savior.  Throughout our lives, the Lord uses His choice tools to shape us into the image of His son.

Prayer—by talking to the Lord in open dialogue, we develop a relationship with Him.  He becomes not just our Savior, but our friend, and as the intimacy grows, so will our passion to be with Him.  Setting aside time for prayer each day will become a delight, not a duty.

God’s Word—you can not grow in your Christian life if you keep the Bible closed all week long.  No one lives on one meal a week, or even the memory of that meal, yet many Christians try to get by with just a Sunday dinner of the Word served up by their pastor.  How can we expect God’s truth to do its transforming work if we never let it into our minds and hearts?

The Church—Christ uses His body of believers as a place for transformation.  Not only do their gifting have a place in our lives, but the rough edges of our character are smoothed.  It is a place of instruction, accountability, and encouragement.

Are you letting the Lord to use His character-shaping tools in your life?  Our culture has no shortage of worldly voices and pressures that fill minds and influence behavior.  Only when we intentionally schedule time for God, His Word, and His people, can Christ do His transforming work in our lives.

Praying—Father I thank You for using Your tools to shape my life, and I purpose to allow You to use me to help someone else, in Jesus Name. Amen.

GUARD WHAT YOU HEAR

“But now you yourselves are to put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do no lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him.”—Colossians 3:8-10

Have you ever noticed that for most people it is easier to gain weight than to lose it?  It is also easier to destroy things than to build them, and to ruin a relationship than to work to maintain one.  It seems that the things we desire are harder to come by than the things we wish to avoid.  It is the same way with what we hear.

Values and attitudes that take a long time to build can be easily destroyed by just a few words.  Certainly, everyone has had their enthusiasm quenched by the disapproving words of someone else.  Our words are important but so are the words of every person that we hear.  To succeed in the kingdom of God, we not only have to watch what we say, but also we must guard what we hear.

In our day and age, Christians are exposed to the negative words of this world as never before.  Most of us allow these words right into our homes, automobiles, offices, and wherever we are traveling.  In seconds, we are aware of all the terrible things going on around the world.  Some people even listen for entertainment to songs that wail about the miseries and sorrows of mankind.  A few years ago, the Holy Spirit spoke these words to me, “A wave of occult music is coming into America to take the children.  It is a Luciferian Music Club which is a Satanic Juilliard.  Across our nation young children are listening to this music, and it is being merchandised as innocent, cute and charming.  International entertainment shows, such as; America’s Got Talent, American Idol, British Idol and The Voice, to name a few, are viewed and heard all over the world   It is interesting to note that in New York City, the world’s most prestigious performing arts school is located.  It is named: The Julliard School.  The Julliard School is a private conservatory offering programs through the division of Dance, Drama and Music.

Negative words have power—evil power.  “Put away from you a deceitful mouth, and put perverse lips far from you” (Proverbs 4:24).  They have the ability to depress, and to cause fear.  We do not need that!  We are to be a people of faith and hope!  “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.  And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you” (Ephesians 4:29-32).

Think about the words you hear today.  Do you really need or want what you are seeing and hearing?  Choose life instead of death (Deuteronomy 30:19).  If a word spoken to you does not increase your faith and draw you to Jesus, rebuke it and reject it.  Then turn your thought to His Word and be glad.
Prayer—Father today I purpose to guard what I hear and I choose life. Please forgive me for the times that I was lax and lazy in choosing to hear words of death.  I ask that by the power of Your Word and Your Blood that every negative word that was sown into my spirit to cause death and defeat in my life be uprooted in Jesus Name.  Amen.

COMMUNION WITH GOD SATISFIES THE SOUL

“O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirst for You; My flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise You with joyful lips.”—Psalm 63:1,5

The word communion means to have a feeling of emotional or spiritual closeness.  When you have a shared closeness to someone either emotional or spiritual, you share a connection, in other words, you have a relationship.  God created men and women to be in a shared relationship with Him enjoying the beauty of their communion with Him.  However, sin entered the human race and that intimate relationship was broken, and it has been passed down through the generations in that damaged condition.

But, as you may know, that is not the end of the story.  God sent His son Jesus to die in our place so our sins might be forgiven and our relationship with Him restored.  Through faith in Christ, we are adopted into God’s family and belong to Him forever—just as He originally meant for it to be.  We are restored to Him, and He has provided us with everything we need to experience intimacy with Him.

We commune with God though His Word, through time spent in His presence, through the fellowship of other believers, through the Holy Spirit, and as the Apostle Paul wrote, “That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings being conformed to His death” (Philippians 3:10).

If you have drifted away from having an intimate relationship with Him, no matter what the reason may be, today, I encourage you to draw near to your Heavenly Father, and experience the blessings of knowing Him more today than you did yesterday.

Prayer—Father I purpose in my heart to draw near to You.  Forgive me for the times I have let other things stand in the way of our relationship.  Thank You for revealing Yourself to me in a more intimate way in Jesus Name. Amen.

IN THE DAY OF TROUBLE CRY OUT TO GOD

“I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill.”—Psalm 3:4

Less than an hour after my husband had left for work, I received a profound telephone call.  My husband’s small Toyota pick-up truck had been broad-sided by a train.  My heart seemed to turn over on the inside of me.  As my mind tried to comprehend what I had been told, I hardly recognized that it was my husband who was talking to me.  He was asking me to come and pick him up, but my mind and my mouth kept asking if he was physically alright.  It was a few minutes before my mind could comprehend that indeed he was alright and that I needed to get into the car and go get him.  During the forty minute drive, I began praising the Lord for preserving his life, and restoring all that the enemy meant for our harm.  When I reached my husband and saw what was left of his small pick-up truck, I was speechless.  By looking at the vehicle, it seemed impossible that anyone could walk away from that devastation.  However, God preserved his life.  When questioning my husband about what had happened, He said that he did not see or hear the train as he began to cross the tracks.  When he felt the impact and the train began pushing he truck down the track, he began to say, “I will not be afraid of sudden terror.”  Proverbs 3:25-26 says, “Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; for the Lord will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.”

At the very moment that my husband was side-swiped by life’s circumstances, he cried out to God for help.  The Lord heard his cry for help and delivered him from all his troubles.

In the Bible, crying out refers to speaking audibly with great emotion concerning an urgent need.  God invites us to use this form of prayer to communicate that we desperately need his mercy.

It takes both faith and humility to share our heart’s concern aloud.  Crying out, then, is a way for God’s children to express trust in the Lord’s ability and willingness to help.  By calling upon Him, with such urgency, we also lay down our pride and any attitude of self-sufficiency.

The Word of God assures us that our Father hears our cries and responds.  When we call aloud for help in Jesus’ name, we invite His power into the situation.  Remember that there is just strength in speaking His name.  We can always count on His comfort and presence, which enable us to live with hope and peace.

Prayer—Father I thank You that You are an ever present Help in time of trouble, and that I can cry out to You and You will hear my cry and deliver me, in Jesus Name. Amen.

THE FAITHFULNESS OF GOD WILL REVEAL TRUTH TO YOU

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”—James 1:5

Matthew is the only writer to record that Pilate washed his hands of any guilt over Jesus’ death.  He was also the only writer to record that Pilate’s wife came to him with the details of a dream she had had about Jesus.  She begged him not to have anything to do with Him.  Other historical accounts record her name as Claudia, and she was the only person who spoke for Jesus during His trial.

“While he [Pilate] was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent to him, saying, ‘Have nothing to do with that just Man, for I have suffered many things today in a dram because of Him.’  But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitudes that they should ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus. The governor answered and said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?’ They said, ‘Barabbas!’ Pilate said to them, ‘What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?’ They all said to him, ‘Let Him be crucified!’  Then the governor said, ‘Why what evil has He done?’ But they cried out all the more, saying, ‘Let Him be crucified!’ When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, ‘I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it’” (Matthew 27:19-24).

When Pilate washed his hands, he was performing a symbolic custom of the day that declared his innocence in the matter, but he was also performing a ritual prescribed in the Jewish law, “And all the elders of that city nearest to the slain man shall wash their hands over the heifer, whose neck was broken in the valley” (Deuteronomy 21:6).  “I will wash my hands in innocence; so I will go about Your altar, O Lord” (Psalm 26:6).

Claudia’s dream came from God since Claudia would have to have dreamt it before she knew that Jesus had been brought before Pilate.  Not only did the Lord bare witness in Pilate’s heart to the innocence of Jesus, but He also have Pilate’s wife a very clear message through this dream.  Pilate was not innocent in this matter.  Together, these instances underscore that Pilate did not innocently condemn Jesus to death, as it thought.

If God was faithful to show Pilate and his wife, two unbelievers, the truth in this situation, you can be assured that He will reveal to you—His precious child—the truth about any situation that you are facing today.  All you need to do is ask, and He will give you the wisdom you need.

Prayer—Father I thank You that You are faithful to reveal truth to me.  Today I bring________________(name your situation(s) before You.  I ask You to reveal the truth about this (these) situation(s).  Thank You for the wisdom to know how to handle the situation in Jesus Name.  Amen.

PATIENCE’S POWER REDUCES STRESS

“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.  Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm.”—Psalm 37:7-8

We live in a generation that expects instant results.  Waiting in line for anything, can cause us to feel frustrated.  People have a tendency to want things when they want them.

Everyone struggles with some degree of impatience.  We are born with this trait.  When a baby wants to be fed in the middle of the night, its’ first reaction, at the hint of discomfort, is to fuss or cry until its’ needs are met.  Patterns from our old “flesh” nature make this a continual battle for most people, but one that is worthwhile to fight.

The biblical definition of patience can either mean longsuffering and perseverance, or not giving up and yielding under pressure.  In either case, it reveals itself when we are willing to wait without frustration while suffering or experiencing some strong desire.  In other words, we accept difficult situations without giving God deadlines.  Furthermore, patience means accepting what the Lord gives, on His timetable—or what He chooses not to give.  This quality results in inner peace and lack of stress.  Meanwhile, we should pray, obey, and persist as we seek God’s direction.

Like our scripture for today instructs us, when we do not have patience with people it causes stress in our lives.  It is something that every Christian must learn—God loves people!  Rich or poor, good or bad, and everything in-between He is Sovereign and has everything under control and our worrying and fretting about anything does not change people or circumstances; it only inflicts harm on us, either physically or spiritually.

Walking in patience and love reduces stress. “I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech  you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness, and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love’ (Ephesians 4:1-2).

Be happy when difficulties arise, for the pressure caused by the problem will produce patience and endurance.  “Moreover—let us also be full of joy now! Let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance” (Romans 5:3—Amplified).

Many times the following scripture has encouraged me, when I have gone through difficult times.  It is like I have been able to gather myself together, and go on because Jesus was able to do it; therefore, I can complete my race.  “Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God” (Hebrews 12:1-2).

Like a farmer that sows his/her seed, have patience for you will reap when you do good.  “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” (Galatians 5:9).

Prayer—Father I ask for Your help in developing patience in my life.  I thank You for Your encouragement, love and longsuffering in my life and as I do not try to figure things out on my own, I know that I can rest in You and cease from strive and stress in my life, in Jesus Name. Amen.

GOD CORRECTS THE CHRISTIAN; HE NEVER CONDEMNS

“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”—John 3:18

Apparently there were a lot of people in Martha’s house when Jesus came to visit one day.  Mary, Martha’s sister, chose to sit and listen to what Jesus was saying, instead of helping Martha serve the people.  Martha became emotionally upset with Mary, and went to Jesus with her problem.  Jesus replied to Martha that she was troubled about a lot of things, but her sister had chosen to do the best thing, by worshipping Him (Luke 10: 38-42).  Notice that Jesus never rebuked Martha, but rather exhorted her that her priorities were not in order.  When the Lord deals with problem areas in our lives, it is always for our good—not punishment.  We should not receive it has rejection.  This is one way that we can discern God’s correction from the devil’s accusation:  Is it condemning?

God convicts us of sin, but He does not condemn us.  Conviction is solely for our good, while condemnation includes punishment.  Satan condemns Christians, but he does it illegally because Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.”  If we feel condemned, we have received condemnation and shame from the devil.  This is not from God.

The way the Lord convicts us is through the inner ministry of the Holy Spirit.  “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you” (John 14:16-17).  This is always done in a positive manner that encourages us to turn from sin.  The enemy’s negative way condemns us for sinning, which makes us feel trapped in it; but the Holy Spirit gently and firmly leads us away from sin and gives us hope and faith to overcome it completely.

One of Satan’s lies is to keep Christians in bondage tell them that they have gone too far and now they are eternally condemned and separated from God.  However, this is contrary to the Word of God.  “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?...Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:33-39).

Christ is not condemning you.  If you are about to sin or have sinned, He will let you know about it.  Just stick with Jesus and He will correct you and keep you out from under the devil’s condemnation.

Prayer—Father I thank You that You love me and that You are not condemning me.  Forgive me for the times that I did not know that You do not condemn, nor do you ever lead me into temptation, but You deliver me from evil.  Thank You for your correction in my life, lead me in the way of everlasting life, in Jesus Name. Amen.

WHEN CHILDREN DIE YOU CAN HAVE ASSURANCE THAT THEY ARE SAFE IN THE ARMS OF GOD

“…Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.”—Mark 10:14

This past week-end, in America, a six year old child was among the twelve people who were murdered in a movie theater.  However, this does not tell the story about children’s deaths world-wide.  According to Global Issues, in 2007, “some 21,000 children die every day around the world.”   Furthermore they report that this is, “Equivalent to 1 child dying every 4 seconds, 14 children dying every minute, and that some 92 million children will die between the [years of] 2000 and 2010.”  The majority of the children die from, “Poverty, hunger, preventable diseases and illnesses.”  Regardless of how a child dies, the impact upon the family can be devastating and long lasting, unless they have the assurance of where their child will spend eternity.  Nonetheless the death of a loved one is never easy, whether you are a Christian or not.

Understandably, people who experience the death of a child want assurance that their little one is safe in the arms of God.  The Bible is not explicit about what happens to those who are too young to make a proclamation of faith; however, the Lord’s mercy upon them becomes clear as we study His Word.

Over the years, people have created unbiblical explanations for what happens to little ones who die.  There are those who argue that salvation is available to some but not to others, which is scripturally inaccurate (see John 3:16; 2 Peter 3:9).  Another more complicated theory holds that God uses His foreknowledge to determine whether a child who dies will enter heaven or hell.  The idea that He rescues those who He knows should have grown up and been saved, but He rejects the rest.  What terrible uncertainty that would mean for family members left behind.  Another inaccurate explanation contends that God uses His foreknowledge to allow some children to die because their life would not have been one of good moral judgment.

God does not keep people guessing.  What His Word teaches is that during the early years of life, a child does not know how to choose good from evil, “Moreover your little ones, and your children, who you say will be victims, who today have no knowledge of good and evil…” (Deuteronomy 1:39).  “For before the Child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good…” (Isaiah 7:16) and therefore is not held responsible for his moral conduct.  Accordingly, when a little one departs from life, the Lord is waiting with open arms.  This is the only theology that makes biblical sense, given the Father’s character, desires, and plan.

Until a child is mature enough to decide about whether to serve the Lord, he or she is safe from divine judgment.  Our just and loving God does not punish children for being too young to grasp their need of a Savior.  Believers join their departed little ones in heaven, “But now he is dead… I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.” (2 Samuel 12:23).

If you are a believer, then you have the assurance of an eternal home in heaven when you die, and you will be reunited with your believing loved ones in heaven. “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God, will bring with Him those who asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18).
Although there is grief in death, for the believer we are not to sorrow as others who have no assurance—no comfort, for we know that death is not the end; in Christ there is life everlasting.
Prayer—Father today I thank You that there is assurance and comfort knowing that in Christ there is life everlasting.  I pray for the families of children that Your Spirit of Comfort will touch their lives today and ease the pain and grief of death.  Lord help them to know that they are in Your loving care, in Jesus Name. Amen.

THE HEAVENLY FATHER NEVER INTENDED THE CHURCH TO BE FATHERLESS

“A father of the fatherless, a defender of widows is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.”—Psalm 68:5-6

Today in prison systems all over America the statistics are staggering as to the number of offenders who are from fatherless homes.  In the juvenile system alone, seventy to eight-five percent of the offenders and men in prison grew up with either absent or abusive fathers.  Over seventy percent of high school dropouts, sixty-three percent of suicides and seventy-five percent of adolescents at drug and alcohol abuse centers come from fatherless homes.  The vast majority of gang members are made up of men without fathers who have joined for protection and a sense of family.

While these statistics are true, it is still difficult for our minds to conceive that our society has disintegrated to this degree.   For those of us who grew up in a generation where most everyone had fathers, these statistics are hard to believe; yet, we must if we are to change the course of a fatherless generation regardless of our culture or nationality.

The Church has a history of changing the course of nations and generations.  Jesus came to earth to demonstrate the heart of our Heavenly Father.  He personally trained the first disciples who went about training others.  One of the major responsibilities of the Church is to make disciples.  In essence, the Church walks along side of a new believer until that person is capable of training others to be like the Heavenly Father.  The new converts are not left as orphans, and they soon learn what it is like to have a Heavenly Father who loves them and is personally interested in them.

After all, Jesus built the Church through faithful and intentional relationships.  It is what is called the “Great Commission” (Matthew 28:18-20).  In Jesus’ public ministry, He preached and taught and healed, but He spent most of His time gathering the twelve disciples around Him and pouring His life into them.  So it is an implicit challenge that we are called to do the same.  For us to reach this generation, we must go to them and seek them out, just as Christ seeks us out.  Today reach out to the next generation and demonstrate the Father’s love to them.
Prayer—Father I thank You that You are my Heavenly Father, and with Your help and strength I can reach out to the next generation and make a difference in their life, in Jesus Name. Amen.

FORGIVENESS MAKES A WAY FOR YOU TO MOVE FORWARD

“For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”—Matthew 6:14-15

Some people, before they became a Christian, experienced a past that they are not proud of.  Many of us have experienced disappointments in life, failures of some kind, and have experienced things that we did not intend to have happen.  God wants us to live in the today of our lives.  Not in the past.  He is a Now God.  Hebrews 11:1 tells us that faith is now, and 2 Corinthians 6:2 says, “…Now is the day of salvation…”  It is important to understand that your past does not have to hinder you from moving forward with God.  God wants you to know that you can move beyond your past, and that there is nothing too hard or too big, for Him to handle.  The key is that you must give it to Him and be willing to change so that you can move forward.

In John chapter 8 a woman caught in adultery has an encounter that changed her life so that she could move forward.  In those days, the Jewish law said that anyone caught in the act of adultery would be stoned to death.  The religious leaders tested Jesus by throwing her down at His feet and asking what He thought that they should do with her.  Speaking in wisdom, Jesus said, “Let him who is without sin cast the first stone” (John 8:7).  No one threw a single stone!  Jesus turned to the woman asked her where are the ones that were accusing you?  She replied that there were none.  Then Jesus said the most amazing thing, “Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more” (John 8:11).  In that instant, Jesus gave her forgiveness and freedom from her past—and an instruction of how to live her life from that moment on.  She could move forward—no longer caught in the past; her new day had come!

For you to live in your new day, it is important to understand that the past—is past.  As long as you are living in the past, or tied to it by lack of repentance and unforgiveness you can not really move forward.  You are unable to focus on the unlimited good things that God has for you today, if you are tied to the past.

The good news is that there is nothing in our past that we can not give to God.  He is willing to forgive it all, if we truly want to be forgiven and to live according to His ways.  “If you confess your sin, He [the Lord] is faithful and just to forgive you of your sin, and to cleanse you from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).

Through the blood of Jesus, shed for you and me on the Cross, we have forgiveness of our sins and mistakes.  When we honestly admit we have done wrong, repent to God for it, make things right, and change how we act in the future we are honoring the sacrifice that Jesus made for us.

When you realized that you have made a mistake, the first step to take is sincerely go to God and make it right.  He will abundantly pardon and help you to avoid trouble in the future when you are willing to listen to Him and allow Him to direct your path.  There are times that you need to ask forgiveness from those you may have offended.  Sometimes this means going to them personally, and it that is not possible, God knows your heart.  It can be hard to humble yourself to the people that you have hurt; however, sometimes this can be a powerful step to take, if you want to move beyond the past, and move forward into your New day.  You can not control how others will respond, but you can make your heart and your actions right.  One of the greatest truths to learn is to forgive yourself and to forgive your regrets.  We think we should have done better, and we hold our mistakes against ourselves.  Often it is pride that holds you to the past.

No one is every going to get life perfect all of the time because there is only one Person who is perfect and sinless—Jesus.  When we do sin, we repent and He forgive us.  We are then able to move forward.  He is not holding anything against us!
Prayer—Father I want to give You my past.  Everything that is hurting and broken in me because of past mistakes, sins, and failures I give it all to You now.  Please forgive me, and set me free from anything that would hold me back.  Help me to move forward in You, starting right now, with a clean slate, in Jesus Name. Amen.

SIN OPENS THE DOOR TO TRAGEDIES

“Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, ‘See you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”—John 5:14

Jesus said that sin causes the tragedies of our lives.  He asks us to live holy lives because if we give in to sin, we yield ourselves to Satan, the author of sin.  Yielding to sin, is yielding to a person—Satan.  God does not impute sin to believers, but the devil does. “Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin” (Romans 4:8).  Therefore, our actions either release the power of Satan or the power of God, in us.

Although God is not imputing our sins unto us, we cannot afford the folly of sin because it allows Satan to have access to us.  When we sin, we give the devil an opportunity to produce death in our lives.  The way to stop this is to confess the sin.  God is faithful and just to release forgiveness and wipe out our sin in our flesh (1 John 1:9).  The blood of Jesus continually removes the effects of sin.

Our sins do not make us sinners any more than the righteous acts of unbelievers make them righteous before God.  Sin is a deadly thing that even Christians should avoid at all costs, but whether or not we sin does not determine our standing with God.  Born-again believers are in Christ.  They are not “in” the flesh even though they may choose to walk “after” the flesh from time-to-time.

When we choose to live a holy sanctified life, we are closing the door so that Satan does not have an opportunity to bring tragedies in our lives.  The Scriptures tells us that we are sanctified and that we are in the process of being sanctified.  In our process of becoming, when we do sin and ask God for forgiveness we then have a legal right to demand that Satan forfeit any claim over our lives.  Stand your ground against the enemy and you will soon see that he must take up his weapons and flee.
Prayer—Father thank You that you are perfecting those things that concern me, and I ask that the Holy Spirit would shine Your light upon me and quicken me in any area of my life that is not sanctified by You, in Jesus Name. Amen.

TRUE SPIRITUAL MATURITY IS MINISTERING LOVE TO A HURTING WORLD

“Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”—James 1:27

If you want to genuinely grow in spiritual maturity, it is not enough to simply be instructed by the Word of God.  You may love going to church or listening to Christian radio or television programs.  You might talk about everything you hear and assume that you are growing because your knowledge is increasing.  However, if you do not actually grow closer to God by allowing His Word to change you from the inside out, your head will merely continue to fill with information.  You might even sound like a godly person who is admired for the ability to quote chapter and verse.  But if you do not take the next step and allow God to touch others’ lives through you, you are missing the point.

Spiritual growth is the result of practicing the truth you receive from God.  He wants you to give away what He give to you—that is, by loving and serving others and sharing the truth of the gospel.  Our example is Jesus, who said that He did not come to be served, but to serve even the lowest outcast of society.  “Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28).  He could have exalted Himself and spent all His time preaching and teaching.  Instead, Jesus did only the Father’s will, which was to reveal His heart of love to a broken world.  The Lord sacrificially involved Himself in people’s lives, and He calls us to follow in His footsteps.

God’s plan is to reach the world though you.  If that were not the case, He would have taken you to heaven as soon as you were born again.  But you are here for a purpose—to live out Christ’s life alongside hurting people who desperately need to experience His love.
Prayer—Father thank You for me today to reach someone who needs to experience Your love, in Jesus Name. Amen.

DO NOT BE INTIMATED WITH “DWARFS”

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”—Philippians 4:13

When I was a teenager, I went to a traveling carnival that advertised, among many other things, a man who was over seven feet tall and could lift over 400 lbs.   I will never forget how big this man was.  It was quite an experience to see him.

Goliath was a giant that was twice as tall as David (I Samuel 17).  David probably weighted no more than the coat of mail that Goliath wore, but he was bigger on the inside than Goliath was on the outside.  We too, often evaluate things only in physical terms.  Physically, Goliath was a giant; but in trusting God, he was a dwarf.  David was the giant in faith, and that was what won the battle.  Anyone who is strong in believing God is a giant in the spiritual realm, and able to do great exploits.

We overestimate and over-emphasize the problems that confront us because we forget who we are in Jesus Christ.  David was God’s anointed king, but Jesus is the King of Kings, and Lord of Lord’s because He slew the greatest giant mankind has ever faced: sin.  Everyone born of God is a spiritual giant with power and authority far greater than anything we encounter from the enemy, the world, or our flesh, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith” (I John 5:4).

Ask God to open your eyes to who you are in the spirit.  You will find that you are a giant who will no longer be intimidated by dwarfs that the enemy has posed as giants!  The truth is that you are anointed and powerful as David and even more today because you have the Holy Spirit living inside you.
Prayer—Father I thank You that the greater one dwells in me and no longer will I be intimidated by “dwarfs.”  I speak to my mountain and command it to come down in the authority and Name of Jesus.  I know to whom I belong and I refuse to give place to the devil any longer, in Jesus Name. Amen.

YOU ARE SANCTIFIED AND SPECIAL

“But in every great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor.  Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.”—2 Timothy 2:20-21

Millions of people the world over feel insignificant and feel like their life holds no special meaning.  I have heard people say, “I am just ordinary, why would God be interested in using me?  Today, I want to encourage you that God has a very different picture in mind for you.  He says, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil to give you a future and a hope” (Jeremiah 29:11).

The good news is that we are all special in God’s eyes, and He has a wonderful plan for each one of us.  When we accept Christ as our Savior, He sets us apart for a very sacred purpose.  We now belong to Him, and that means we are not here on this earth to live as we please.  As God’s children, we exist to bring glory and honor to Him by becoming more and more like His Son in our character, conduct and conversation.  It is not a matter of following a list of rules, but of letting Christ live His life through us.
The Bible calls this sanctification.  It is a process whereby the Lord continually changes His followers through the power of His indwelling Holy Spirit.  I am not saying that we will become sinless, but the more we yield to the Spirit’s leadership, the more we will find ourselves victorious over sin.  As our old attitudes and habits are replaced with godly ones, we will become useful servants in the household of God.  We become that vessel of honor which is prepared for every good work and that is useful for the Master.

Being special to the Lord has nothing to do with what kind of work that you do, or how intelligent or successful you.  It is based upon whose you are. You are valuable because God created you and the seeds of greatness are in you.  It is God who sanctifies (sets you apart) you by His truth through His Word, and you are a sent one into the world (John 17:17-19).
Prayer—Father I thank You that I am special in Your eyes.  Help me to see myself as special, and to know and understand Your plan for my life, in Jesus Name. Amen.

BE INTOLERANT TO THE THINGS THAT GOD IS INTOLERANT TO

“These six things the Lord hates, indeed, seven are an abomination to Him; A proud look [the spirit that makes one overestimate himself and underestimate others], a lying tongue, and hands that she innocent blood, a heart that manufactures wicked thoughts and plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies [even under oath], and he who sows discord among his brethren.”—Proverbs 6:16-19 (Amplified)

In America, our society is constantly being bombarded by the media and special interest groups to be tolerant and accepting of people’s lifestyle choices that are in direct opposition to God’s ethical standards of conduct.  For example, special interest groups have led the charge to accept as a normal lifestyle, homosexuality, lesbians, same-sex marriage, and all manner of sexual perversion.  The Scripture explicitly forbids this lifestyle and instructs us not to approve it (Romans 1: 18-32).

Let’s be clear, as Christians we are to love people, but we are not to condone lifestyle choices that are immoral and unethical.  We are to love and minister to people who are engaged in these activities, but we are not to be a partaker of another person’s sin.  As ministers of the gospel, there is no scriptural justification to tattoo and have body piercings to present the gospel to any particular group of individuals.

A spirit filled believer came to me one time and told me that she was going to start ministering to teenagers; furthermore, she believed that God had told her to get her nose pierced, so she could identify with the teenagers she would be witnessing too.  I shared with her the following scriptures which teach us concerning body piercings and tattoos.  “You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks on you: I am the Lord” (Leviticus 19:28).  Although 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 does not directly apply to tattoos or body piercings, it does give us a principle: “Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.”  After I had shared these scriptures and reminded her that God does not contradict His Word, the young woman said, “I do not care what the Bible says; I am going to do it anyway!”   Even after I told her that I Samuel 15:23 said, “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry…” she stilled rebelled and got her nose pierced.  From that time on, this young woman has experienced a lot of difficulties in her life.

The Apostle John had a revelation that he wrote about in Revelation 2:18-23.  The church in Thyatira was doing well for the Lord.  The church was commended for their works, love, service, faith and patience; however, there was a problem because they tolerated a woman by the name of Jezebel.  Jezebel called herself a prophetess, and taught and seduced the people to commit sexual immorality and eat things that had been sacrificed to idols.  She was given time to repent of her sexual immorality, but she did not; therefore she experienced many difficulties.

Examine your heart and make sure that you are not tolerating those things in your life that God does not tolerate.  He wants you to yield to the Holy Spirit so that your whole life is pleasing to Him.
Prayer—Father I willing yield my life to You today, and if I am tolerating sin in my life in anyway, I ask You to show it to me.  I repent of anything that is not pleasing to You, and I ask You to strengthen me today so that I my life reflects You, in Jesus Name. Amen.

GOD IS GOOD

“And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written, Amen.”—John 21:25

Every detail of every man’s life that has ever walked on the earth has not impacted the world as much as the few recorded details of Jesus’ life.  Jesus was not just a man; He was God manifested in the flesh (I Timothy 3:16).

In Acts 10:38, Peter gave a brief yet descriptive summary of the life and ministry of Jesus. “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”  Jesus was anointed with power and with the Holy Spirit.  He used this power, to do good, not evil.  This is one of the main characteristics of God and it is one of the easiest ways to discern what is from God and what is from the devil.  God is a good God and the devil is a bad devil.  If it is bad, it is from the devil; if it is good, it is from God.  “Good and upright is the Lord…” (Psalm 25:8).

Tragedy can come from three sources: God, Satan, and natural law.  God’s wrath rests upon unbelievers only, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness” (Romans 1:18).  Believers will never experience His wrath, “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him” (Romans 5:9).  New Testament believers are exempt from the punitive judgment of God since Jesus bore it for them, “For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life” (Romans 5:10).

As for natural law, as mankind violates the laws of God, in both a natural and moral sense, they will reap what they sow, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7). For example, if a person drives recklessly and kills themselves and others, it is not God or the devil that killed them.  They violated natural law and thus paid the price.  Unfortunately, the devil often steps in to accuse God of being behind all tragedy.  But our God is a good God, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning” (James 1:17).
It is incorrect to believe that God has some redemptive purpose in tragedies.  This type of thinking will lead you to ignore the devil and give him a free hand to destroy your life.  It will also cause you not to use wisdom. “Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good.  He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God” (3 John 11).
Today determine to walk in the sure knowledge that God is a good God, and that He has good things in store for you today.  Say with the psalmist, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:6).
Prayer—Father I thank You for Your goodness in my life.  I choose to impact my world by demonstrating Your goodness to the world, in Jesus Name. Amen.

CHOOSE TO OBEY GOD EVEN WHEN THE WAY SEEMS DIFFICULT

“But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: ‘We ought to obey God rather than men”—Acts 5:29

All over the world we are getting reports that Christians are being persecuted for their beliefs.  House pastors are being sent to prison and tortured, in one country, a group of believers had gathered in the church to pray when radical extremist burnt the church down.  While in other countries, believers are being exiled from their families, and turned into the streets to live.  In America, I am not personally aware that the degree of persecution that Christians suffer in some other countries occurs here.

Because my parents thought that my husband and I had become involved in a cult, we were persecuted.  We literally had to leave our home and property.  We are like so many people that have chosen to obey God leaving all to follow Him, and have seen the fulfillment of Christ’s promise, as recorded in Luke 18:28-30.  “Then Peter said, ‘See, we have left all and followed You.’ So He said to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life.’”  At the time, the way was very difficult for us; however, through the Lord and the process of time, our relationship with my parents was healed.  Plus, we are still receiving many times more than what we financially and physically left, and we have the assurance of eternal life.

Today, even if the way seems difficult, choose to obey God.  Your heavenly Father loves you, and He is working in your life behind the scenes creating a way of escape for you just like He did for Peter and the early disciples.

Mighty signs and wonders were being done, in the early days, of the Church.  So many people were being healed that they eventually began laying people in the street, so if Peter’s shadow fell on them, they would be healed.  The religious leaders became jealous of what was happening and placed the apostles into prison.  An angel of the Lord opened the prison door that night, and told them to stand in the temple to preach.  The next morning the apostles obeyed God and preached.  The religious leaders had them brought back into court telling them that they had been charged not to preach in the name of Jesus.  However, the apostles replied, “…we ought to obey God rather than men.”  They went on to preach that they had murdered Jesus, and that God had raised Him from the dead highly exalting Him; furthermore, they were witness of these things along with the Holy Spirit.  Eventually, the apostles were freed after they had been beaten and charged once again not to preach in the name of Jesus.  “So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ” (Acts 5:12-42).

The early believers were motivated to follow the Lord because of their conviction.  They were absolutely convinced of God’s Sovereignty.   Peter and the other disciples recognized that God had carried out His divine plan of redemption in Jesus’ lie, death, and resurrection.  Convinced that salvation was found in Christ alone, they had the courage to speak boldly about their faith.  They did not alter their words, even when confronted with a powerful authority.  Instead, they gave allegiance to God and obeyed Him.

Their obedience was motivated by gratitude.  After betraying the Lord, Peter had wept over his failure (Mark 14:72).  Stop and think about the disciple’s joy to realize that Christ had forgiven him for his mistakes and restored him to a right relationship with God (Mark 16:7; John 21:15-17).  With his past behind him, Peter became a leader of the Jerusalem church, with a passion to obey fueled by a thankful heart.

God is in charge of our lives.  He has rescued us from the bondage of sin, forgiven us, and brought us into His family.  Grateful obedience should be our response too.  Like Peter, let us commit to following our heavenly Father wherever He leads.
Prayer—Father I recognize Your Sovereignty in my life and I am grateful.  I choose to obey You even in the difficult times, when I can see no way of escape, I know that you are working in my behalf, and I will follow You wherever You lead, in Jesus Name. Amen.

SEEK GOD’S JUSTICE NOT YOUR OWN

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”—Matthew 6:33

The people living under the Old Covenant had some very straight guidelines for dealing with injustices.  For example, kidnapping was punishable by death, as was cursing your mother or father.  Sorcery was punishable by death, mistreatment of a stranger was not permitted, and if someone borrowed anything from their neighbor who was not present when it became injured or died; restitution was expected.  It was taught “eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, wound for wound, stripe for stripe” (Exodus 21-22).

Under the New Covenant the guidelines for injustices are different than the Old Covenant’s.  Jesus taught “You have head that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also” (Matthew 5:38-39).  He taught that we are to love our enemies and bless the people who curse us.  Furthermore, we are instructed not to curse, and if someone forces us to go one mile we are to walk with that person two miles, and many other things (Matthew 5-8).

Patrick Wood told how he was driving down a road one day and a big truck carrying a boat careened into his lane.  His reaction was to veer out of the path of the truck; he narrowly missed hitting the large boat motor which would have went through his windshield instantly killing him.  Thinking that he had somehow missed everything and that his live would be spared, he did not see the ditch, utility poles, and lake.  His car hit the utility poles which halted his car from plunging into the lake.  Miraculously, there was not a scratch on Patrick’s body, but his car was a total loss.  However, the guy driving the truck fled the scene of the accident leaving no evidence that he was the cause of the accident.  Patrick said that he felt, “humanly helpless,” and that was when he brought his case before God.  He based his prayer petition on Matthew 6:33 saying something like this, “Father, You said that if I seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness my needs would be provided.  Now as far as I can tell, I’ve met my responsibility on that, obeying Your voice instead of the worlds.  Now, if I am mistaken, let me know, but please give me justice and a car.”
One week after Patrick prayed the authorities phoned him and told him that a woman had witnessed the accident and followed the man who caused the accident.  She wrote down his license plate number.  Shortly after receiving the first call, his church called and said that someone had a car that they wanted to donate to him. Justice and a car had come to Patrick.

One evening after Jesus’ crucifixion, Peter and some of his fellow disciples resumed their former careers on the Sea of Galilee.  They fished throughout the night, not catching anything.  As if losing their best friend was not enough, they must have been discouraged because no fish had been caught.  All of a sudden, a man appeared on the sea shore yelling, “Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat.”  They took the advice reaping a harvest that was reminiscent of other times when Peter had taken Jesus’ advice on fishing (John 21:1-6).

Likewise, our needs are met when we heed Jesus’ instruction.  Essential to seeking God’s kingdom and experiencing its “terms of provision” is obeying the One seated on its throne.  Confident that you are living this way, take comfort in His power to provide, be assured of His desire to do so, and place your trust in the timing of His choice.  You will not be disappointed.
Prayer—Father I repent for the times that I have sought my own justice instead of Yours, and I ask You to forgive me.  Today I look to You for Your justice and provision in my life, in Jesus Name. Amen.

GUARD YOUR HEART AGAINST DECEPTION

“And Jesus answered and said to them: ‘Take heed that no one deceives you.”—Matthew 24:4

It seems to me that deception has becoming more noticeable during recent years.  I think that most people are appalled at the blatant lies, and cover-ups that huge institutions and governments have been involved in recent times.  There has always been corruption in the different aspects of society i.e., politics, government, banking, and even those who call themselves ministers of the gospel.

Webster’s dictionary has a clear definition of deception, “accepting as true or valid what is false or invalid.”   We could put it like this; the one who deceives others convinces them to accept as truth, what is false.  The Bible has a lot to say and warnings about deceit, deception, deceivers, and being deceived either by self, or by others.

Scripture warns against deceptive teachers in 2 Thessalonians 2:3, 10.  Paul writes a detailed warning to the Corinthians saying, “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works” 2 Corinthians 11:13-15).

The true apostles invited scrutiny.  Paul commends the Bereans who “were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so”(Acts 17:11).  When someone is “not walking in craftiness nor handling the word of God deceitfully” (2 Corinthians 4:2), then they are not afraid of careful inspection.

The Scripture advises of the risk of self-deception saying, “Let no one deceive himself, if anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise” (1 Corinthians 3:18).  The Apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 6:7-8, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.”    Frankly, we may deceive ourselves and others, but we cannot deceive God.

We must take personal responsibility to see that we are not deceived.  “Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience” (Ephesians 5:6).  Paul wrote to Timothy saying that the time will come will people will leave the faith (the true teachings and doctrines of Christ), and they will listen to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies and making false claims and pretenses, having their own conscience  marked with a hot iron (1 Timothy 4:1-2).

To guard your heart from deception you must seek the truth (seek the Word of God), love the truth, obey the truth, and abide in the truth.  “…If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:31-32). When you do these things you will easily be able to know (to spot) any thought or idea that is contrary to what you know of the truth.
Prayer—Father I thank you that I will guard my heart with all diligence and with Your help I will not be deceived.  And Father, if I have been deceived in any area, I ask you to shine the light of Your Holy Spirit on it.  I repent of any deception and ask you to wipe away any consequence of the deception, in Jesus Name. Amen.

DO NOT BE SO PREOCCUPIED WITH FIGHTING THAT YOU FORGET THAT THE BATTLE HAS BEEN WON

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”—John 16:33

For many people, the way of war has been with them for so long that it is hard to imagine living a life of rest and peace.  This is true in the natural world and in the spiritual sense.  Many nations of the world are experiencing war, at some level within their borders.  The Church is also fighting a battle.  The Church is fighting over the issues of homosexuals, is the Bible to be taken literally, women in the ministry, divorce, heaven and hell, money, the five-fold ministry gifts to the body of Christ, the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit and many others.  During all of this fighting, I believe that the Church has lost sight of the bigger issue; its’ very real enemy Satan, who seeks to deceive and distract us from understanding that Satan is a defeated foe.

The Bible tells us that Satan walks about as a roaring lion seeking someone whom he may devour, and that we are to resist him.  “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world” (1 Peter 5:8-9).   Notice that the Scripture tells us what Satan’s trying to appear as, a roaring lion—Not that he is a roaring lion.  This is a huge difference.  Furthermore, we are taught how to deal with this “want-a-be lion”; we are to resist him steadfast in the faith.  We can do this.  Every time the enemy comes to your mind telling you something that does not line up with what the Word of God says, you simply must say, “Satan I resist you in Jesus Name.”  Find out what the Word of God has to say on the issue that you are facing, and then begin to say those things what the Word has declared.  You will soon discover that your faith is increased and your enemy has decreased.  Scripture declares that when Jesus was raised from the dead that He was seated at God’s right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power and might and dominion; and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.  God has put all things (all things are all things) under Jesus’ feet, and gave Him to be the head over all things to the church (Ephesians 1:20-23).

When we have a long drawn out battles with Satan over everyday manners, then we have lost our focus that Jesus is Lord, and that Satan is a defeated foe.  We as Christians are given the responsibility to enforce Satan’s defeat.  Dr. Charles Stanley said, “You should never be so preoccupied with fighting that anxiety makes you lose your focus on the joy of knowing God.  Rather, remain at peace, knowing that you are fully victorious and secure in Christ, and that He has already defeated the Enemy.
Prayer—Father I thank You that Jesus has defeated Satan and that I no longer must feel like I am fighting a loosing battle.  I thank You that I go through my day in the power of the Spirit enforcing Satan’s defeat, and that I am more than a conqueror in Jesus Name. Amen.
