DISCOURAGEMENT LEAVES WHEN STRENGTH IS RECEIVED

“By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised.”—Hebrews 11:11
Over four million Israelites traveled through the desert wilderness to the land of promise.  Their travel was hot, dusty, and rough with little water.  God had promised that He would guide and provide for them.  However, like many of us, they became discouraged along the way.  Instead of keeping their eyes focused on Jehovah the Provider, they looked away and saw the circumstances, and they began to grumble and complain.  In contrast, 1 Samuel 30 reveals to us what action David did when confronted by discouragement.
The Amalekites had burned Ziklag, destroyed David’s residence and private property.  Furthermore, they had taken captivity all the women and children, including David’s.    However, David’s distress drove him to the Lord, “But David found strength in the Lord his God” (1 Samuel 30:6).

Today your way may be through what seems like the wilderness, and it may be easy to become discouraged; but, remember that discouragement is a tool of Satan.  He does not want you to think that you are going to make it; however, like David, go to the Lord and receive His strength.  God told David to go and pursue his enemies and that he would overtake them and recover all. You have been promised victory in Jesus, and are to go in the strength and the power of His might.  Receive His strength to day, and be more than a conqueror in Jesus Name.
Prayer—Father, I ask you for your strength, your power and your might today, and I receive it by faith, in Jesus Name. Amen.
